6. 岐阜大仏（正法寺）

Tour Highlights
1. Gifu Castle
Perched on the summit of Mt. Kinka, this castle was Oda Nobunaga’s base for unifying Japan. From the observation deck on the top floor, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Nagara River and Gifu City below.
2. Mt. Kinka Ropeway
A ropeway connecting Gifu Park and the summit of Mt. Kinka in about 3 minutes. Enjoy an aerial stroll while taking in the rich nature of the four seasons and the magnificent scenery that unfolds as you ascend.
3. Gifu Park
A beautiful park at the foot of Mt. Kinka where history and nature harmonize. Featuring the ruins of Lord Nobunaga’s residence and a well-maintained Japanese garden, you can take a leisurely stroll while feeling the changing seasons.
4. Nagaragawa Ukai Museum
A facility showcasing the charm of “Nagaragawa Ukai” (cormorant fishing), which boasts a history of over 1,300 years. You can experience the depth of this traditional culture year-round through powerful videos and interactive exhibits.
5. Kawaramachi District (Old Town Walking)
An atmospheric area lined with latticed townhouses and black-walled storehouses. Dotted with shops selling traditional Gifu fans and stylish cafes in renovated townhouses, it is perfect for a retro stroll.
6. Gifu Great Buddha (Shoho-ji Temple)
Counted as one of Japan’s three great Buddhas, this golden statue stands 13.7 meters tall. Made with bamboo and Japanese paper, this dry-lacquer Buddha has a unique warmth and a peaceful expression that gently embraces visitors.
7. Inaba Shrine
With a history of over 1,900 years, this ancient shrine is familiar as the general guardian deity of Gifu. Surrounded by lush greenery in a solemn atmosphere, it is also popular as a spiritual “power spot.”
8. Nawa Insect Museum
The oldest existing insect museum in Japan. You will be overwhelmed by the rich colors of approximately 300,000 precious specimens lined up, including beautiful butterflies and rare insects from around the world.
9. Minna no Mori Gifu Media Cosmos
A complex cultural facility designed by world-renowned architect Toyo Ito. With a large undulating roof of Japanese cypress timber framing and spaces of soft light called “globes,” you can spend a comfortable time here.
10. Nagaragawa Onsen (Foot bath, etc.)
A brownish-red hot spring rich in iron that wells up along the clear stream of the Nagara River. There are free foot bath spots available, allowing you to easily enjoy the water while soothing the fatigue of sightseeing and walking.
